SEPTEMBER 9th - GUIDED NEW YORK TRIP
Purchase Your Train Ticket in Advance For Best Price
(For all trips, we recommend purchasing your ticket 2 weeks in advance or more.)
STEP ONE:
Book your round trip train ticket on September 9th from BWI (7:34 am) to Moynihan Penn Station NYC, returning from NY at 6:36 pm arriving BWI at 9:30 pm.
STEP TWO:
Preregister for COTERIE as an attendee.
STEP THREE:
Arrive at BWI Train station at 7 am to meet Lee and the
other students. Wear comfortable shoes, light clothing
and only bring a small cross shoulder strap handbag.
STEP FOUR:
Pay Lee $50. Get on the train and rest for three hours.
What Our Day Will Look Like
We arrive at NY Penn Station at 7th Ave and 33rd Street around 10:30 am.
We cab in groups of four to the Jacob Javitz Conference Center at 11th Avenue and 33rd Street (Approx 15 minutes and $5 each.)
At 11 am, Lee will walk you through the Trade Show where designers (or their sales reps) sell their work to boutique owners. You may take business cards and choose not to buy anything. An average purchase from any one designer is 10 garments at $100 each at wholesale ($1000) and generally must be in a size range. Again, you do not need to buy anything!
At 12:30, we eat lunch. (You pay for your own selection - allow $20).
At 1 pm, we cab in groups of four to MOOD Fabrics and other wholesale fabric outlets in the Fashion District around 37th street and 7th Avenue. (Approx $7 each). (You pay for any purchases of fabric, trims or buttons by the yard.)
At 3 pm, we subway to the Brooklyn Museum to see 3D printed clothing by Iris Van Herpen (Approx 30 minutes and $5 each way)
At 5 pm, we subway back to Penn Station in Manhattan
At 5:30 pm, we have dinner at a cafe close to the station. Lee will make a reservation when the number of students is settled. (Allow $30 plus alcohol if desired.)
At 6:35 pm, we take the train back to BWI Train Station and rest till we arrive at 9:30 pm.
